Ka Type In : Help online.

Introduction

Ka Type In lets you define frequently used text snippets, ready to be typed into any application, document, web form.

To show the window, move the mouse pointer to left edge of screen. You will see a list of your templates (text snippets) divided into categories (groups). You can now right-click this list to see more commands enabling you to create new categories, templates etc.

To fire up a template, simply click one of them (once). Document/form you're going to type in the template must be in active window (window with keyboard focus, blinking cursor etc.).

Auto completion

Enter "Bes" to expand it to "Best regards, ...". To do that, hit Ctrl+; after entering first few letters of a template. The Ctrl+; is customizable via options.

Special template elements

Variables.

Let's say you're working in a tech support department, and you're very often writing e-mails similar to this one:

To: John Smith

Dear John.

Thank you very much for your query. It will be processed as quickly as possible. Until then, you may try...

Thanks again John!

With simple templates you would then need to replace "John" and "Smith" with actual data. In Ka Type In however, you can use special tokens, thanks to which the program will prompt you for the values, for example:

To: <<$first_name>> <<$last_name>>
Dear <<$first_name>>.
Thank you very much for your query. It will be processed as quickly as possible. Until then, you may try...
Thanks again <<$first_name>>!

When you will click the template, the program will display a dialog box asking you for "first_name" and "last_name" and then will automatically fill out the template.

Portable mode

To use Ka Type In on a USB follow these steps:

1. Install it normally on system drive
2. Go to "preferences", check "Portable mode" checkbox.
3. Close the app, copy the entire folder (usually in C:\Program Files) to your USB drive
4. That's all. You can now uninstall the software for your system drive if you wish. Just leave it on USB.

Plans

I'm thinking about a possibility of sending more complicated keystroke strings (like Alt+Ctrl+...), mouse clicks, and maybe a recorder (your keyboard/mouse actions could be watched and saved as a template) which would make the program a small macro/automation tool.

But only if you'll like the software and these ideas - so if you like it,  please let me know (at forum or via e-mail).

Unistallation

Through Control Panel, or go to the program's installation folder and open unins000.exe
