Source and target windows

Ac Browser Plus is a MDI application. It's different than most of the file managers. MDI stands for Multi Document Interface. This article is a short comparison to dual file managers.

This approach gives much more power and functionality. You can have many windows open and work with them in an organized way, in one application. Besides, some of ACB's features simply requires MDI: ACL (list of files, will be later about it), Temporary directories etc.

However in dual pane File Managers, when you copy\move files you always know what is the "target" - it's always the second panel. You also know, what is the "source", it's an active panel. It is important when you copy\move files using the keyboard. It's also important when synchronising or comparing folders. But which window is the "target", and which is the "source" in ACB ?

This is why there is  a "vertical title bar". You can see there the title of current folder, and also the answer to the above question - ("source") or ("target").

Always, the active window is the "source". That is, the window having a focus, and with the title bars in the appropriate colors. And always the "target" window is the window which was previously active.

Whatever. All of this is only important when you use keyboard to perform the file operations. If you prefer Drag&Drop, then, it's not important which window is "source", which "target".
