Exporting and importing

Overview

In both cases the purpose is to  export existing objectsA file or a directory, or both to a text (or a text file) for example to print it, or to import objects from a text (or a text file).

Exporting

Select Commands/export... menu command. You will be presented with a dialog, in which you can specify which fields you want to export. Then you may copy the contents to the clipboard, or press Continue if you want to save it to a text file.

Importing

Using this tool, you can copy files from given locations to current folder. You can copy files from local\networked computer, as well as from the Internet (HTTP protocol).

Note: you may need to manually refresh (Alt+R) after this operation.

  • Select Commands/import... menu command. The parts of a dialog which will appear are:
  • Paths to import , text control. These are the files' and directories' paths to proceed with.  You can load it from a text file. Important note: these have to be paths or URL's, separated with newlines, nothing else. That is, for example

    c:\windows\system32
    c:\windows\other directory
    c:\windows\notepad.exe
    http://www.konradp.com/products/acbplus/images/dolph_alone.gif (AcB's logo)

If there is anything else,  ACB will not proceed. So you cannot right now import files from csv files, because something like that is forbidden:

    path                                        size
    c:\windows\notepad.exe       3434

  • buttons: paste from clipboard - inserts the content of the clipboard to the edit control. Load from text file allows you to load a text file.
  • options:
            Copy
:  means that the objects are to be copied.
Create links or url's: will create links to the objects, unless URL will be found n the text control (e.g.         http://www.konradp.com ), then url files will be created.

Since version 2.44, in this way you can also download files from the Internet. However, there are a few considerations, more: Downloading files from the Internet
