Working with zip archives

Ac Browser Plus fully supports zip archives (plus reading from .rar archives).

Zip archives in ACB behaves almost just like a normal folder, and so, working with them looks almost the same.
Important note : if you want your files and directories comments to be compressed and extracted correctly, then you should always use the ACB's internal zip support. Only this way guarantees that the comments will not be lost.

Compressing files and folders.

If the archive already exists, just drag&drop the files\folders you want to compress to this archive. You may also enter the archive, and drop the files into the chosen folder inside the archive. If the archive doesn't yet exists, press  Ctrl+F10 or Alt+F5 to create one, and copy the selected files into it. You may also press Shift+F10 or Shift+Alt+F5 to move the selected files\directories to the archive.
Note, that if you press Ctrl+F10, and specify the archive which already exists, the archive will be updated.
You can also press Alt+Shift while Dragging&Dropping to compress files - new archive will be created in the folder you dropped the files.
You can also simply rename the file\directory, by changing the extension to .zip. More.

Extracting  files and folders

Enter the archive just as you would enter a normal directory, select files\folders inside the archive and Drag&Drop them to a place you want.

Creating Self Extracting archives

Self extracting archives are simply .exe files (programs) which extract themselves. To create one in ACB, select (or put cursor on) a zip file, then go to Files\Zip\Make .exe menu command. Or: simply change the file's extension from ".zip" to ".exe". Note however, that this will add about 100 KB to your archive. In the future I'll try to make it smaller. To enter a self extracting archive (SFX) press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.

Notes

You can copy\move files from a normal folder to archive, from archive to archive, and from archive to a normal folder.  You can also copy\move files\folders from ACL to archive, even if this ACL consists files which are in other archive.

You can use standard keyboard shortcuts to copy\move files - F5,F6, Ctrl+Shift+F5 (Copy directly to the target window), Ctrl+Shift+F6 (move directly to the target window), also the clipboard operations, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V.

You can turn on the thumbnails view when you are in archive, you can also  use the Quick Viewers.

You can search in archives and in nested archives (archive in archive). Read more.

To enter a self extracting archive (SFX) press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.

If you are inside archive, and you will Drag&Drop files to the ".." item, then files will be unpacked to the folder in which the archive exists. Example : you are in c:\SomeFolder\archive.zip\SomeFolderInsideArchive and you Drag&Drop some files from that place to the ".." item -  they will be unpacked to c:\SomeFolder.
