Overview

Now, by default, clicking with right mouse button, anywhere on the object, brings "primary menu" which is the shell context menu. To bring the "alternative" context menu, you have press right mouse button with shift.

However, you can change this behavior, using settings (tools/options/general options menu command), so you can get back to the "old" way of bringing the context menus and selecting.

So, go to tools/options/general options menu, in the "menu and selecting/right mouse button" section, choose "select" as the action after pressing right mouse button. Then, to bring the context menu, you'll have to click the icon of the object. And which menu you'll then see, depends on which menu you'll choose as the "primary". To get to the "alternative" context menu, use right mouse button with shift pressed, or use right-left clickingPress right button, then left, then release both..

Context Menu

By default: click the object (file\directory) with the right mouse button.  To get the "alternative" context menu, use right mouse button with shift pressed, or use right-left clickingPress right button, then left, then release both..

Marking files

Depends on the settings (tools/options/general options menu command). By default you select objects just like in Explorer. Alternatively, you can change options to select objects with right mouse button.

(To show the context menu you can right-click the icon of the file once, then the ACB's context menu will appear. To show shell context menu do this with Ctrl pressed, or do right-left click Press right button, then left, then release both. on the icon of the file).

  • group selecting : Numpad+
  • unselecting : Numpad -
  • unselect all : Esc
  • select all : Ctrl+A

Use Shift+Numpad+ to expand selection - select Like Selected. So when files my_cool_web_site.html, and my_great_style.css are selected, and you will hit Alt+Numpad+ - and then Enter – all files in current directory, which have extensions html and css will be selected.
Comparing lists : Shit+F2 . Source and Target window are compared. Newer files are selected. Files missing in one list (usually a directory) are also selected in the other.

In group selecting dialog box, you can separate files with semicolon - ;. Use the standard ‘dos-like’ wildcards or full Regular Expression supported by AC Browser, like [0-9] – files with numbers will be selected.

You can compare every kind of windows - ACL, Zip folders, normal folders.

More about Regular Expression searching in AC Browser here.
More about source and target window here.

The ".." item.

On top of files' list there is a ".." item. When clicked, then ACB goes to parent folder. Also, when files are dropped to it, then they are copied\moved to the parent folder.
In any other case however, it means : the current directory. So if you press space when focus is on it, then the size of current directory is counted. If you Drag&Drop this item to some place, then the current folder will be copied\moved. Also when you copy this item to the clipboard, then the current folder will be copied.
