Important change in ACL (containers)
behavior - dragging and then dropping files to a folder on the list will copy
the files (instead of adding them to the list).

Ac Browser Plus and Ac Browser Plus Free Edition
Version 4.00 (27 March, 2007)
AcEyes application is now completely
rewritten, and now, you can use AcEyes internally in ACB itself. Press :
Ctrl+Alt+K, to start searching
from the current directory. Also you may go to Commands\ACFAT\Search. This will
open the AcEyes application.
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+K to start searching from the root.
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+J, you will see a well known
Ac Quick Search tool, but this time this tool
will ask AcEyes to bring the current folder's information, which is much
quicker.
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Space to calculate currently selected folder's size.
Or, finally, click the "Counting directories' sizes mode" button on the
ACB's toolbar, keeping Ctrl+Shift+Alt pressed to enter this mode with ACFAT
used.
More about AcEyes, how to activate it and use, you may find here -
AcEyes and ACFAT.
You can now operate on SFX files (Self Extracting Archives) - to enter
such an archive press Ctrl+Shift+Enter)
Support for PCX image files, and also for TIFF with LZW compression.
ACB has now it's forum! Please go here:
http://konradp.com/forum and select "Ac Browser Plus" forum. Post your
ideas, bug reports and features request there.
This version was published only because finally I killed the bug with the
shell context menu, which caused a crash in Windows 98 systems. The next version
is coming and there will be much more changes.
Besides the killed bug, there are also minor changes, like:
Better looking thumbnails, besides in this view, you must click twice to
open, and once to select, which is a better way I think.
Shell context menu accessible in the File
Finder result list.
Creating SFX (Selft Extracting zip archives) - File\zip\Make .exe
menu command, or - you can simply rename .zip file to .exe, and you will be
asked if to make exe. Read more about
SFX.
Tricks with renaming files: if you will press Ctrl+Enter (instead
of just enter as you normally do), then the file\directory will be copied to the
new name in the same directory. Besides - read below:
Smart Renaming:if you will change the extension of
the file and ACB is able to handle the conversion - you'll be asked if to
convert (e.g. jpg to gif). Read more: renaming files :
smart renaming.
Files' & directories' queries - now as separate files, in %Ac
Browser%\Queries directory. In the future this will be much more extended,
along with the ability to save\load those queries from File Finder and other
tools.
Skins:) Currently a little poor, but that's the beginning.
Ability to set the workspace, which will be loaded every time ACB is
started (in Tools\Options\General Options".
Thanks to moving settings to multiple, separate files (usually in "ini"
format, for example the queries - .acquery files), your settings will not be
overwritten every time ACB is reinstalled.
ACFAT - the quickest way to find a file. The disk you
select, can be indexed, and so, you can find a file within milliseconds.
A few bugs killed: selecting files doesn't use 100% of CPU resources any
more:) - the same with selecting an area in the image quick view.
Formatting file and directory sizes in the status bar (Bytes, KB, MB, GB).
"Go to folder" command in command menu. You can quickly open a
desktop folder or your documents folder.
Ability to copy one file\directory to many files\directories in place. Previously, using the
command Copy file in the same directory (in file\special menu,
Shift+F5), you were able to copy only one file\directory to one file\directory,
now you have two additional modes: copy one file to many files, and copy many
files to many files. Read more.
Now, when a file is open (e.g. double clicked) from inside the archive, you
have a choice - to unpack all, or to unpack only the one file, and execute.
Still, I've not killed a bug with a shell context menu on
Win98 systems - I will take care of it right now.
A few Users really wanted a possibility to recycle files
(instead of only deleting) so here it is - you can Recycle files (move to
the recycle bin: Delete key) and delete them (Shift+Delete keys).
In version 2.1, when files were dropped to the main
window's title bar, the program reacted differently, depending on the file's
extension (e.g. some were directed to a quick viewer). Now, ACBP will do always
the same - will open the adequate directory.
Quick Access Bar has changed. There is no
"important" button anymore, there is, instead, "Newest"
button. The 10 newest files are shown.
Shareware version released, and so changed name to AC Browser Plus. From now
on, I'll be working only on this shareware version, and I strongly recommend to
use AC Browser Plus.
I am late. As usual :) One thing I have learned is : I
shouldn't promise anything. First of all, if I do, then I am in
unnecessary rush, second, I usually don't keep my word. So, here it is : version
2.0, and no promises about the next version. I'll just say that I'm
keeping working.
So the Carnival! version's out. ONLY to fix bugs and add some small
features.
Good news :
Added :
- Tree view
- "stable selection" - you know... not like in Explorer that changing
focus without CTRL down destroys the selection. Now selecting (with rigth
mouse button) is "stable".
- Binary Quick View. Quick view of large files is now possible.
- Random slide show in Image Quick View
- One click to execute, when icon clicked (cool, when you get used to)
- Some other minor adds.
Fixed :
- File searcher window doesn't start automatically only because when previously
used, text was searched.
- On some systems (Win98\95) there were problems with running programs\docs - now
should be fixed.
- some other.
Bad news :
- There is still no support for archives.
- The tree view doesn't refresh itself when the folders' structure changes (also the
files list doesn't)
- Still there is no support for AVI and MPG in the PeekView (this small window which
appears when user moves mouse over the red point).
- Still there is no support for AVI and MPG in the thumbnails mode.
The first published version of AC Browser, called AC Browser 2002
Just checking out if people will like such a thing. People liked.
I promised to make the next version in March of 2003. However there
were too many bugs.
